This is a musical show based on the famous series of crime novels by Marek Krajewski about Eberhard Mock, a police officer in pre-war Wrocław (in German: Breslau). The author of the books, as well as his hero, are both household names in Wrocław, and both have a status of a celebrity. Adventures of commissar Mock are classic Chandlerian crime novels with a hint of thriller. They are extremely popular reading; they present the pre-war realities of Wrocław with great care. The books have been translated into several languages.
There are no spoken scenes in the show, the whole thing is being sung. A dozen or so songs present separate stories from the life of commissar Mock, inspired by subsequent novels from the series. The protagonist is accompanied on the stage by fellow policemen, bandits, madmen, and prostitutes – The Street Ladies – who conduct a burlesque show about power, crime, and passion.
